Itinerary
DAY 1: Amarbayasgalant monastery (370 km)
The tour will first bring you to visit the Amarbayasgalant, one of the most well-known and largest monasteries of Mongolia. The monastery was built about 300 years ago in honor of Undur Gegeen Zanabazar, the first Bogd (Religious Leader) of Mongolia. It has a unique architectural solution and offers artists a beautiful scenic panorama of its surrounding area. The monastery is still distinguished from other Buddhist monasteries and is developed and recovered independently. Next to the monastery, there is a "monastic school" and it is a "charity monastery" where children from low-income families who want to become monks are trained from an early age. In addition to learning religious studies, the monastic community regularly visits elderly monks and their teachers' homes. They help to prepare the firewood, carry drinking water, and look after their livestock. Although the monastery has fewer than 40 monks, they built a hotel near the monastery and built a tourist camp to welcome domestic and foreign tourists.
